Gentle Breeze

20. July. 2001

Gentle breeze like a gentle heart

                        Beats steadily across the meadow

And her rhythms echo through the grasses

                        Tapping on the flora

                        And dancing around the fauna

To wake them from night’s peaceful slumbers

Gentle breeze like a gentle glance

                        Gazes over the water

And she sees the sun’s tears smiling

                        Brightly in her playful wake

                        Sparkling

                        Holy jewels

                        Pouring down from heaven

Gentle breeze like a gentle song

                        Plays lightly through the trees

And her music stirs the leaves that meet like hands

                        To praise her

                        With precious applause

Gentle breeze like a gentle touch

Playfully teases and caresses my hair

Calling up memories of distant hands

                        Ancient hands

                        Hands of the elders

                        Loving hands

                        Knowing hands

                        Your strong hands

Gentle breeze like a gentle breath

                        Fills all the lonely spaces

Pausing patiently to listen

                       To hopes and fears

                       To joys and sadness

                       To lightness and pain

                       Never judging

                       Always accepting

Giving me sweet release

Gentle breeze like a gentle phrase

                      Whispers in my ear

And her wisdom helps to make me whole

                      Comforting

                      Cleansing

                      Renewing

With reminders of sights and sounds

                     Of nature’s wonders

                     Of peace and harmony

                     Of equanimity

Reminders to take pleasure in life’s simplicities
